How to create scrolling videos and examples
MP4·Create a copy of the GIF animation that allows selecting and sharing desired segments from a WebM video.
If no file is selected and it starts, 320×180px example is created. The default 2-second interval and 8 frames per second produce 16 frames. The GIF frame interval is saved at 1/100 seconds, so about 0.13 seconds per frame, and the total playback length is about 2.08 seconds. For the actual video, select MP4 or WebM files and adjust the start and end times. WebM without playback length can be directly checked in the preview.
Supported range and limitations
Select an MP4 or WebM video, set the start and end times, and choose an output long edge of 240, 320, or 480 px at 5, 8, or 10 fps. Accept files up to 25 MB and 10 minutes long, with a longest side of at most 3,840 px and no more than 8.29 million pixels. The selected segment is limited to 5 seconds; output is limited to 50 frames and 20 MB. Output is scaled down while preserving its aspect ratio and converted to a maximum of 256 colors. For WebM files without a recorded duration, check the preview and choose a segment within the first 10 minutes. Video rotation metadata and codec support vary by browser. HDR, color, transparency, and audio are not preserved. Closing the tab or canceling during encoding discards the result.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can all MP4 WebM files be opened?
File extension alone cannot guarantee codec support. The browser must support video codec, and unsupported files are indicated during selection. Some WebM formats do not record playback length. In this case, verify with a preview and enter the first 10 minutes directly. Unplayable files should be saved as MP4 or WebM.
Is sound and original color preserved in the clip?
GIF is silent and uses up to 256 colors per frame. You can reduce the duration of the long edge, and the colors, brightness, and motion may differ from the original. Transparency, HDR, and rotation metadata are not preserved, so check the preview.
Does the video or file name appear in the share link?
The video and file names are used only in browser memory; they aren’t uploaded or saved to the server. The sharing message includes only the tool link, output size, and number of frames. Save the GIF file directly for sharing. Input, preview, and results are cleared when you leave the page.
