Calculation·conversion criteria

Calculate the area of a triangle using the lengths of all three sides.

s=(a+b+c)/2, area=√(s(s−a)(s−b)(s−c))

Input example

3, 4, 5 Triangle area = 6

If the three sides are 3, 4, 5, then the semi-perimeter s=6 and the area is √(6×3×2×1)=6. If the side length is in cm, interpret the area as cm².

How to use

  1. Use the provided example value, or replace variables a, b, or c.
  2. Click Verify result and check the following result.
  3. Result can be copied if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we calculate width without knowing the height?

If all three sides are known, it can be calculated using Heron’s formula. However, the sum of any two sides must also be greater than the remaining side. 1, 2, and 3 form a straight line and cannot form a triangle.
