Print PDF result
Print on portrait A4 at Actual size / 100%. Turn off fit and shrink options and test on plain paper first. Printer feed accuracy is not guaranteed.
How to use and processing criteria
Create numbered A4 test and corrected grids from label width, height, rows, columns, gaps and margins. Print the uncorrected sheet on plain paper at Actual size / 100%, then measure first-row displacement and adjacent-row pitch. This is not a product-code template or address editor.
Actual example
A 25 mm cell height and 2 mm gap give a designed pitch of 27 mm. If the printed pitch is 27.2 mm, s=27.2÷27 and corrected pitch is 27÷s≈26.801 mm. For a first row shifted 2 mm right and 1 mm down, the 10 mm left position becomes 8 mm and the 14 mm top position becomes about 13.007 mm. These are the editable public example values.
Reserve 12 mm at the top for instructions and 5 mm at other edges. Every corrected cell must stay within this area. Limits: 100 cells and a 50 MiB PDF.
Measure displacement at the left and top edges of the first row. Let s = measured pitch ÷ designed pitch. The inverse correction is x′ = x − rightward error and y′ = first-row position + (y − first-row position − downward error) ÷ s. Heights are also divided by s. Horizontal scaling, skew and irregular feeding are not corrected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which PDF should I print first?
Print the uncorrected test sheet on plain A4 at Actual size / 100%. Hold it behind your label sheet and measure the first cell’s left/top displacement and the distance between the top edges of two adjacent cells in the same column. Then create the corrected PDF. The test action ignores measurement fields.
How do I choose positive and negative signs?
Use positive for a print shifted right or down, and negative for left or up. A 2 mm right shift is +2; a 2 mm left shift is -2. The tool computes the opposite adjustment needed to undo the observed error.
Can it correct drift that grows down the sheet?
Measured row pitch estimates a constant vertical scale error and inversely corrects both positions and heights. Only 80–120% of designed pitch is accepted. Horizontal scaling, rotation and irregular paper slipping are outside this model; check printer settings and feeding.
Can I create finished address labels?
This tool makes test and corrected grids containing numbers, borders and reference marks. It does not provide address/name editing, product-code templates or shifting the contents of another PDF. Use the result as a calibration reference and verify equivalent settings in your actual label software.
Calculation criteria and reference materials
- Avery — Print alignment and test printing
Correct paper size, 100% scaling and plain-paper tests after adjustment. This tool uses its own disclosed inverse-correction model.
- Avery — Actual-size label printing
Print at actual size and compare a test print against the label sheet. No product-specific template or physical print certification is provided.
